Egan House & Forster Mansion, San Juan Capistrano

On separate transactions, Economos DeWolf facilitated the sale of two of San Juan Capistrano’s most culturally and historically significant landmarks: the Egan House and the Forster Mansion.

The Egan House, a Renaissance Revival red-brick residence built in 1883, originally served as Judge Richard Egan’s home, courtroom, and social hub. Located at 31892 Camino Capistrano, the property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and today is home to the popular café, Ellie’s Table. A historical marker on site honors Judge Egan’s legacy in the community.

The Forster Mansion, constructed in 1910 by Frank Ambrosio Forster — grandson of Don Juan Forster, one of the region’s earliest landowners — remains one of the best-preserved estates of its era in Orange County. Situated at 27182 Ortega Highway, the mansion is recognized as both a San Juan Capistrano Historic-Cultural Landmark and a property listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
